Karen is a Canadian High Performance Coach, and an International FEI Dressage.
She has successfully trained numerous horses to the esteemed, FEI level – and her exemplary record of successes in the National and International arenas confirms her talent as a gifted rider and competitor. A superb coach and role model, Karen enjoys the enthusiastic support of the many loyal and dedicated students who have achieved success under her guidance.
Karen proudly represented Canada many times as a listed athlete on the Canadian Equestrian Team. Highlights of her career to date include being a member of the Canadian Silver Medal team at the 2007 Pan Am Games, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and a member of the 2014 Canadian World Equestrian Games Team in Normandy, France. In 2016 she was the reserve rider for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janiro, Brazil (Canada unfortunately did not qualify to send a team, only 2 Individuals). In 2008 she won the Foreign Rider award at the Sydney, Australia CDI securing Team Gold for Canada.
Karen continues to regularly work with International trainers to further learn and hone her skills. She has also trained and competed in Europe to gain valuable experience and exposure to International judges essential to future successes. Karen is a well recognized athlete with an unwavering desire to continue to compete at prestigious, International tournaments. In January of 2018, Karen changed her sports nationality to ride for Croatia to help promote Dressage in this developing country, and to stay in line with the FEI’s initiative to have more flags represented at International events.
In 2017 Karen embarked on another interesting and related field in her sport of Dressage, commentator for the FEI World Cup in Omaha, a new and challenging role. In 2018 she was a co-commentator for the FEI World Equestrian Games for FEI TV, commentating for the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Speciale. In 2021, Karen became an International FEI 2* Judge. In 2022 Karen became an International FEI Young Horse Judge, in 2023 an International FEI 3* Para equestrian Judge, and in 2024 an International FEI 3* Dressage Judge.
Karen has volunteered on a variety of committees over the years in an effort to give back to the sport of Dressage. She was a member of the Dressage Canada Board as Co Chair of the Athlete Council for several years. Karen is particularly proud of this role, as the High Performance Dressage riders in Canada became a more cohesive group as a result of her contributions.
